Your opening guess should test 5 high-frequency, distinct letters. Three proven openers:
Avoid words with repeated letters (SPEED, LEVEL) for your opener — repeated letters give half the information per guess.
Wordle answers are drawn from common English vocabulary. The most frequent letters in 5-letter words are S, E, A, R, O, I, T, L, N. Build your first two guesses around these. By guess three, you should have identified most of the letters in the answer.

Yellow means the letter is in the word but not in that position. Don't just move it one spot — it could be anywhere. If A is yellow in position 1, it could be in positions 2, 3, 4, or 5. Use our solver with ? in position 1 and A included elsewhere to narrow to valid words.
