Boggle Scoring System
Boggle rewards long words exponentially. 3-4 letters = 1pt. 5 letters = 2pts. 6 letters = 3pts. 7 letters = 5pts. 8+ letters = 11pts. The critical insight: finding one 8-letter word scores 11 points — the same as finding eleven 3-letter words. Expert Boggle players hunt 8-letter words first, then fill in shorter words only after exhausting long word possibilities.
Adjacency Rules
Every letter in a Boggle word must be adjacent to the next letter — horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. Each letter tile can only be used once per word. A valid word traces a continuous path through adjacent tiles. Our solver identifies all candidate words from your 16 grid letters — you verify the adjacency path manually on your physical grid.
Common High-Scoring Patterns
-ING words appear frequently in Boggle grids (REARING, STARRING, STARRING). -TION words (RATION, STATION). -NESS words (KINDNESS, DARKNESS when letters align). -MENT words (MOMENT, CEMENT). Scanning for these common endings in your grid letters, then checking our solver for valid words using them, is a systematic approach to finding 8-letter plays.
