Word Database Statistics
74,872 Words — Fully Analyzed
Every figure on this page is computed directly from the 74,872-word database powering the anagram solver. Implementation fingerprint: 916f47949b41. Generated: 2026-07-27. All statistics are reproducible and verifiable against the same database.
Database Overview
Word Length Distribution
Each row shows the count and percentage of words at that character length. The distribution peaks at 8 letters (11,976 words, 16.0% of the database). The distribution is right-skewed: there are more long words (10+ letters) than short words (2–4 letters) in the database due to the Scrabble word list composition.

Most Common Starting and Ending Letters
Largest Anagram Families
An anagram family is a group of words sharing the same letters. These are the largest families in the 74,872-word database, computed by grouping words with identical sorted-letter signatures.
Q-Without-U Words — 30 Valid Words in the Database
Standard English spelling pairs Q with U almost universally. These 30 words are exceptions — valid database entries containing Q without an immediately following U. These are important for Scrabble when holding a Q without a U tile.
Source: endsWith() and contains() matching on WORD_DB where Q appears without a following U. Count: 30 words. Implementation fingerprint: 916f47949b41. Generated: 2026-07-27.
Methodology and Reproducibility
All figures on this page are computed by running a character-frequency analysis script against the complete WORD_DB array. The word list is loaded from the same JavaScript file used by the live anagram solver on every page of this site. The implementation fingerprint 916f47949b41 is a hash of the word list content that allows any statistic to be verified: load the same wordlist.js file, run the same analysis, and the numbers will match exactly. No statistics on this page are hardcoded estimates — all are computed values from the actual database.
Generation date: 2026-07-27. Limitations: (1) the database includes Scrabble-oriented word lists, so word length distribution skews longer than conversational English; (2) a small number of accented characters appear in the database but are excluded from the 26-letter frequency tables; (3) proper nouns and abbreviations may be partially included depending on source word list definitions.
Letter Frequency — Top Six Letters
The six most frequent letters in the database (E, S, I, A, N, R) account for over 52% of all letter occurrences. This concentration is the foundation of optimal Scrabble vowel management and frequency analysis in cryptography. Knowing that E, S, I, and A together represent roughly 36% of the database vocabulary makes these tiles especially valuable for Scrabble rack construction — words using multiple high-frequency letters tend to score more efficiently per tile than words built around rare high-value letters like Z or Q.
